Shiba Tatsuya is a First Year Student in Course 2 of the First High School. He is the eldest son of Four Leaves Technology (FLT) company's vice president. His only sibling is Shiba Miyuki. Since he was born in April and Miyuki born in March, they are studying in the same year according to Japanese school system. He is known as a Weed, which is considered the lower class.
He is a member of the Public Morals Committee and he becomes a student council member in his second year.
Only known to the Yotsuba family, he is the Guardian of Miyuki, a candidate for the next head of the Yotsubas. Guardians serve for life unless dismissed by their principal. It is said that bodyguards protect to eat, while Guardians eat to protect.
PersonalityEdit
He has a rather cold personality, very analytic and he doesn't show his feelings, but he seems to love his sister really much and cares for her. He himself says that he only lives for her (Chapter 12). He calms her down when she's about to lose control over her magic and doesn't seem to mind that she is one of the most talented students at the school, while he's only a reserve.
He is not easily intimidated by his opponents. He analyses them and then takes them down, as quick and clean as possible.
He doesn't like to avert attention on him, and he has a dark secret, which is yet to be revealed in the manga. He has no problem killing enemies, having done so an uncountable number of times in the past.

Shiba Tatsuya is an average looking man and has a firm, well-toned body that has been compared to a Renaissance sculpture, standing at 175cm. However, as a result of his training and his military and guardian duties, his body is criss-crossed with numerous scars from cuts, burns, and puncture wounds. He has brown hair even though in the manga it shows that it is black. He has light blue eyes and a firm figure. He is usually seen wearing his school's uniform. He almost always has a straight, fixed, expression on his face, only smiling when he is with his friends or sister.
Power/AbilitiesEdit
Ninjutsu/Taijutsu. Tatsuya was taught by a famous ninjutsu practitioner Yakumo Kokonoe and has been shown to fight on par with this person and has been acknowledged as one of his best students. Tatsuya is capable of incredible running speeds that are beyond human capabilities, which have even been mistaken for magic although it is purely a physical skill.
He dual wields CADs, an extremely advanced skill that requires complete psion control.
Tatsuya also has 2 types of magic: regeneration and decomposition. When he is damaged to a certain degree, his subconscious mind will automatically heal his wounds and as for decomposition, it's a magic to reduce all matter or magic to its natural compounds. By using this power he can even reduce humans and battleships to dust. Another variation of decomposition is "Material Burst" which converts matter to pure energy (E=MC2). This last magic is a military secret which is prohibited to be used in public. Tatsuya's commanding officer, Major Kazama Harunobu, has compared Tatsuya's might to a strategic warhead, while Kudou Retsu is concerned that the combination of Yotsuba Maya, Miyuki, and Tatsuya will transform the Yotsuba family into an entity that will someday eclipse the Ten Master Clans. He is one of around 50 people with strategic class abilities, and he himself is a Strategic Class Magician with his spell Material Burst, which demonstrated that magic eclipses all mechanical, chemical and biological weaponry.
Tatsuya possesses a limiter of some sort that reigns in his already formidable magical abilities, which was first foreshadowed when Yakumo observed the siblings' aura in Volume 2 of the LN. Miyuki is able to release Tatsuya's limiter, and when she does, the large number of psions which are usually compressed and accurately tracing his silhouette, violently (visually speaking) explode, before calming down and gathering around him. The limiter release affords Tatsuya access to greater magical ability, as well as destructive power on par with a strategic weapon. This connection also makes Tatsuya constantly guard Miyuki with his Elemental Sight subconsciously, even when they are far apart.
He normally uses a long gun-barrel version of the specialized-type CAD "Silver Horn", the tuned-up model "Silver Horn Trident". It is named thus because it is customized cast three consecutive magics, mainly Decomposition, letting him disintergrate three things at once. This CAD model is said to have been made by the mysterious engineer "Taurus Silver", whose particulars are unknown, specialized in the "Loop Cast System" that was also made by him. He carries around various storages that contain different start-up sequences to deal with various situations.
Later it is revealed that Tatsuya himself is Mr. Silver and he has an older partner, Ushiyama, who is Mr. Taurus (this is partly because Tatsuya is too young to patent his inventions). For the products they make, Tatsuya handles the software portion but leaves the hardware to Ushiyama as he is not as well-versed in that field. His invention of the "Loop Cast System" was said to have pushed the technological advances of magic by 10 years. During the Nine Schools Competition Arc, they unveiled to the public the invention of a CAD specialized in flight magic, which was thought to have been impossible to achieve.
Tatsuya is able to transmit and receive information transformed into psion signals. This ability allows members of the Yotsuba family to pass information to one another or even send data to the target's unconscious magic calculation area of their nervous system for precision spell casting. This magic can only be utilized by members of the Yotsuba Family and requires physical contact.
Tatsuya is extremely knowledgeable in a number of fields shown on his entrance exam results where he scored top marks on Magic theory.
Known SpellsEdit
- Flash cast - Yotsuba family secret magic, brainwashes a person into memorizing activation sequences without the use of CADs. Severely improves casting speed without a CAD, and in Tatsuya's case, surpasses the speed with a CAD.
- Regrowth- Allows complete recovery of any form of damage/injury. It is not a form of recovery magic; instead, by reverse-reading the records of the Eidos, copying the past information of the target and directly overwriting it, he is able to make the injury "not have existed in the first place", provided that the injury was suffered within the past 24 hours and the target was not killed instantly. However this comes with a price that Tatsuya has to suffer. During the process of reading into the target's Eidos' information he has to experience the same pain the target felt, except multiplied and compressed into an instant. Due to this, the longer the time until he tends to an injury, the more pain he suffers. He can also regenerate objects. Furthermore, when his body suffers a certain level of injuries/abnormalities, his self-repair system will instantly make him recover. Unlike restoration magic, it does not need to be applied multiple times and is permanant, since although the Eidos will try to revert to before external alterations, the rewritten Eidos is the target's information from before.
- Decomposition
- Mist Dispersion - Decomposes substances into basic particles. The level of decomposition can range from molecules to elements to subatomic particles.
- Gram Dispersion - Decomposes magic rituals into meaningless psions.
- Material Burst - Decomposes substances into pure energy following E=MC^2, almost like an atomic bomb. Actually produces more energy than an atomic bomb, as energy is not lost to collisions between electrons and positrons like in annihilation reactions.
- Phantom Blow - magic that is fired to produce shock waves, which leads to a concussion-like state. (first seen when used on Hattori and in the nine schools competition)
- Resonance
- Gram Demolition - unsystematic magic, mass of psions that blows away activation sequence or magic ritual
- Elemental Sight - As a side-effect of the magic he possesses since birth, he is able to access the Idea, the platform in which the Eidos (Information Bodies) exists. This gives him awareness of various existences regardless of obstacles, as well as the ability to read the information of start-up sequences and magic sequences just by perceiving them.

Combat StyleEdit
Tatsuya uses his high speed, to either close in on the opponent, or to 'vanish', so he can't get hit by spells. Then he strikes, fast and sharp, using his CAD, rendering the opposite party (mostly) unconscious.
Before he attacks, he analyses the opponent, immediately seeing weakpoints and strategy, and then using an opening to hit.
He is able to recognize spells, aimed at him or not, and use gram dispersion, gram demolition or cast jamming to stop it. He is able to cast decomposition and gram demolition without a CAD and he can also dual wields CADs, which is believed to be impossible.
In the Magic Theory Competition Arc, it is shown that in battles where he is permitted to go all-out, he loads the sequence for "Mist Dispersion" in his right CAD and "Regeneration" in his left CAD. The sight of him in battle caused the enemies to fear him for his "Demon Right", which reduced anything to dust, and "Divine Left", which recovered his comrades from any wound inflicted. The Great Asian Alliance gave him the nickname of "Mahesvara" due to this when Tatsuya first showed his abilities three years before the main storyline.
Light Novel DescriptionEdit
Shiba Tatsuya - 1st Year Student in Course 2 (Reserve Course, Weeds) and protagonist of the story. He specializes in regeneration magic and decomposition magic. His regeneration ability allows him to quickly heal any injury consciously, and should an injury be severe enough, will automatically heal himself regardless of will. His decomposition magic allows him to destroy any types of magic and matter. His decomposition magic comes in multiple forms, but due to their destructive ability, it is restricted by the military. He also has another ability of currently unknown origin, which is the ability to perceive magic pathways, which allows him to read magic that have recently been used, detecting people nearby, and reading the activation of magic. He uses this to his advantage by either sending out psion waves (via his CAD) to block magic or his decomposition magic to destroy a magic before it has come to formation.
Tatsuya is a student of Kokone Yakumo, a ninjutsu instructor considered amongst the world's best, and a highly skilled close-combat fighter. He is also a member of the Independent Magic Battalion under the name Ooguro Ryuuya, a secret military group which tests new equipment, and is involved in intel manipulation, and covert operations. His rank is Special Lieutenant.
He is a former member of the “4” clan, the Yotsubas, and guardian of his sister, the candidate to be the next family heir. His primary magic ability is regeneration; as a specialized magician, though, he was unable to perform normal magic. Due to this, he was deemed a failure formally ejected from the clan and reduced to being one of the clan's servitors and was experimented by the clan leader, Yotsuba Maya, at a young age. Using her sister's magic, she removed a portion of his mind which controls strong emotions and replaced it with a magic-processing device. This allows him to use simple magics without the use of a CAD, but due to his magic specialization, he still has difficulty performing more complex spells. As a result of the surgery he can no longer feel strong emotions except in relation to his sister and has no memory of his childhood pre-surgery. Because he is a powerful magical technician, a gifted magical engineer, and relatively emotionless, the entire family fears him. The family keeps him in check by using Miyuki as a make-shift hostage via treating her as the next clan-leader candidate.
Tatsuya is the son of the vice president of FLT (Four Leaves Technology), the company behind the most advanced CAD devices available on the market. Due to his naturally superior intellect, he is used by his father as the leader of CAD research. Tatsuya releases his discoveries under the name “Silver” and is the engineer in charge of the software behind the “Silver Taurus” series of CAD.
